A Powerful Theater Experience Addressing Youth Violence

The production tackles critical issues affecting inner-city communities, while highlighting the transformative power of music, creativity, and mentorship as pathways to something greater.

Our Story

Created by educator and cultural leader Frank Bold, alongside producers Jamol Pugh and Ronald Blount Jr., Courageous: The Musical is grounded in lived experience and social impact. Together, the producing team brings decades of expertise across education, performance, philanthropy, and healthcare advocacy—ensuring a powerful, authentic, and culturally relevant​

Beyond the Stage

Each show is followed by a live talkback featuring the cast and community organizations, providing audiences—especially students—with real resources, guidance, and pathways to change.

 

In addition to live performances, Courageous offers a fully developed curriculum and school partnership program, equipping educators with the tools to explore the themes of the show in the classroom and even produce their own student-led versions.

Frank Bold, Producer

Writer, director, educator, and founder of Bold Art Society, Frank Bold creates work at the intersection of art, education, and social change, empowering young people to tell their stories and develop leadership skills.

Ronald Blount Jr.

Producer

Ronald Blount, Jr., Producer, a seasoned healthcare executive with over 30 years of experience advancing healthcare systems across New York City. As Executive Director of the Bronx County Medical Society, he collaborates with hospitals, insurers, physicians, and elected officials to improve service delivery and influence healthcare policy. His work centers on health equity, patient safety, and community-focused advocacy.

Jamol Pugh

Producer

Jamol Pugh, Producer, Faith-driven community leader, philanthropist, and angel investor committed to uplifting underserved communities. Rooted in Harlem’s cultural legacy, his work supports initiatives that empower youth, strengthen families, and promote positive identity. He is honored to champion projects that amplify young voices and create pathways to healing, opportunity, and lasting community impact.
